IHG opens eight new hotels in Russia and CIS region
So far in 2019, IHG has opened the Crowne Plaza Ufa-Congress Hotel and Holiday Inn Express Moscow-Baumanskaya and entered the Armenian market with Holiday Inn Express Yerevan in February. A Crowne Plaza has been signed in Krasnodar and open later this year. This new signing joins Holiday Inn Perm, Crowne Plaza Moscow-Park Huaming, Holiday Inn Aktau-Seaside (Kazakhstan) and Holiday Inn Telavi in Georgia, which are all set to open this year.
Russia ready to ease visa requirements for Japanese visitors
Moscow is ready for further steps to ease visa requirements for Japanese visitors, speaker of the Russian Federation Council, the upper house of parliament, Valentina Matviyenko said.
Russian Government is planning to start using electronic visas system for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Sochi and Kaliningrad
Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin informed that electronic visas system will be implemented in Russia in the beginning of 2020. Five cities (Vladivostok, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Sochi and Kaliningrad) will be the first regions that start this procedure.
Russia launches new hotel classification
A couple of days ago, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a provision on the mandatory classification of Russian hotels. Hotels with more than 50 rooms must be evaluated with a star before the beginning of July this year. Those with 15 to 50 rooms must be assessed by the beginning of 2020.
